George W. Runkle III, MS, PE, SE

Biography

George Runkle graduated from the University of Maryland in December 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He received his Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from Columbia University, NY in February, 2017.

Mr Runkle is a retired Lt. Colonel from the US Air Force Reserves. He has served in the US Army, the Maryland Army National Guard, the New Jersey Air National Guard, and the Pennsylvania Air National Guard along with the Air Force Reserves. He deployed in support of Operation Southern Watch to the United Arab Emirates, Operation Enduring Freedom to the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan, and finally in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Kuwait, with a short time in Iraq. His decorations include the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster.

Mr. Runkle has worked in positions with private industry and the US government before founding Runkle Consulting in 2000. In additon to Structural Engineering, he has worked in Geotechnical Engineering, Materials Testing, and Construction Management.
